From 15.1.2024, you will be able to donate blood at Jumbo-Flamingo in Vantaa
From 15 January 2024, blood donors will be able to donate at the Blood Service’s new site at the Jumbo-Flamingo shopping centre in Vantaa. The new donation site is located on the second floor of the Flamingo entertainment centre.
With the move to Vantaa, the donation site in Kivihaka, Helsinki, will close its doors. The last day on which to donate blood in Kivihaka is Wednesday 10.1.2024.
At the new site, donors will be able to donate blood, platelets and, from the end of February, plasma. The new site in Jumbo-Flamingo will also house our mobile operations base in Southern Finland.
“The unit in Vantaa, and in Jumbo-Flamingo in particular, is a great fit for the Blood Service in many ways. Vantaa is large, multicultural and continually growing. Jumbo is one of the busiest shopping centres in the Helsinki Metropolitan Area and in Finland, and it is easy to get to by car and public transport. Jumbo also has parking spaces for donors who drive,” explains Unit Manager Pirjo Grön from the Blood Service.
With the opening of the new site in Vantaa next year, the Blood Service will have three permanent blood donation sites in the Helsinki Metropolitan Area. The other two are located in the Sanomatalo building in the Helsinki city centre, and in the Iso Omena shopping centre in Espoo.
